We're not the only ones obsessed with nail art. It was all the rage at Fall/Winter 2012 Fashion Week. We are inspired by all the manicures that our friends at Bella Sugar have highlighted. Are you?
The manicure at 3.1 Phillip Lim was designed to have a "shadowed, crescent moon effect," according to the Essie team. To do it, they started with a coat of Licorice polish ($8, essie.com), then topped it with a thin stripe of Chinchilly ($8, essie.com), and highlighted the sides with Blanc ($8, essie.com).
At Badgley Mischka, Deborah Lippmann polished up models' nails with Dark Side of the Moon ($18, lippmanncollection.com), a deep aubergine, and then tipped them with Nefertiti ($18, lippmanncollection.com), a golden frost.
The "Mercury Manis" at Behnaz Sarafpour used high shine gold and metallic accents. These tips were created with CND polish in Gold Chrome ($6, cnd.com) and Silver Chrome ($6, cnd.com), but your results may not be the same at home. CND says this works best over a high-tech clear enhancement.
CND nail artist Kristina Estabrooks and her team spent over 130 hours hand detailing "biker babe" manicures for The Blonds. No two sets of nails were the same, and the team used everything from crystals and glitter to leather and crushed glass shards in their designs.
Jeremy Scott's shows are always whimsical, and to complement models' blue lips (courtesy of MAC) Dashing Diva Pro Manicurist Pattie Yankee used the brand's Nail Bliss Bling's Rainbow appliqus ($8, dashingdiva.com).
At Rachel Antonoff, the "Starry Night" manicure used two coats of CND polish in Midnight Sapphire ($6, cnd.com) with a sponged overlay of Eclectic Purple ($6, cnd.com) and Studio White ($6, cnd.com), followed by a coat of CND Effects in Sapphire Sparkle ($6, cnd.com).
For this show, Vivienne Westwood asked Minx co-founders Janice Jordan and Dawn Lynch-Goodwin to make nails that had the look and feel of the surface of a skateboard. The result is called the 'Touch Me, Feel Me' Minx.
The showstopping "Flirty Flower" nails at Rachel Antonoff were created with two coats of CND polish in Flashpoint ($6, cnd.com) as a base, then hand detailed using CND Brilliant White ($6, cnd.com) and Anchor Blue ($6, cnd.com).
