If I had my wish, every woman would be in love with her hair. That being said, we all know that love don't come easy! After owning a salon in Chicago, and then doing Oprah's hair exclusively for 25 years, I want to help you win the style battle. With a little practice, you can quickly create some new looks for yourself. Here are some techniques I use on Oprah to add pizazz to everyday styles.
The absolute best way to gain control, add shine, and make peace with your hair, is with a touch of my Q-Oil on wet or dry hair. That is my biggest secret for giving Oprah's hair a dazzling shine. It works for every style, and every type of hair--straight, curly, kinky, thick, thin, blond, red, natural or color-treated.
A ponytail like Eva Longoria's is a smart style when you're short on time. Give it a finished look by taking a small piece of the pony and wrapping around the band, then pin it under the base to cover it.
For an evening look, add a little height to your ponytail to get a glamorous look like Reese Witherspoon. Lightly tease the top of your head for height, smooth your hair, then pull into a pony or large bun. Remember to wrap a small section around if you don't have a pretty band.
If you have straight hair like Selena Gomez, create a wave by taking a curling iron and, starting at the base of a section of hair, spiral wrap hair around the iron to the ends. Carefully remove hair from around hot iron and take the curled section and pin it in place until cool. By letting the hair cool in place, you will make a stronger, longer-lasting wave.
