Even though Robert Pattinson dissed her in favor of a make-out sesh with Taylor Lautner after they won Best Kiss for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, we have a feeling Kristen Stewart enjoyed herself at the MTV Movie Awards. Not only did she scoop up the golden popcorn for Best Actress, Balmain custom-made her edgy red dress with safety pin accents, and her sleeklong hairstyle looks gorgeous.
Jessica Szohr, let's talk. I know that you recently lost your job as the most loathsome character on TV and probably want to get a new part. But honey, showing up to events in oversized black-and-white paisley print jumpsuits (where the print mirrors your fallopian tubes right over, well, your fallopian tubes) is never the answer. You don't have to take my word for it, either. Your own jumpsuit has already turned on you and eaten your feet.
What do you do when the Internet is ablaze with rumored nude pictures of you and the tabloids won't shut up about your alleged romance with Leonardo DiCaprio? If you're Blake Lively, you show up to the MTV Movie Awards to promote your upcoming film, Green Lantern, looking like this. Cool, calm and fresh off the jet from Cannes. Ah, to have Blake Lively's "problems" for a day.
You know when you're on the Christian Louboutin website and you see the ridiculous colored suede fringy platforms and think to yourself, "Who actually buys these?" Amanda Bynes, that's who. Poor girl isn't in on the joke. Nor has she heard about the moratorium we've called on bandage dresses. Or self tanner abuse. In other words, there's a whole lot of no going on in this picture.
Now that she finished shooting Spider-Man, Emma Stone has returned to her signature red hair color--albeit a lightened version of it. She pairs a sheer lace Bottega Veneta dress with an orange basketweave clutch and kept her hairstyle wavy. Oh, and she sat in front of Andrew Garfield during the show (important details, people).
Despite being beautiful and smart, Nikki Reed does not know how to dress for her body type. This dress, with it's sheer overlay that hides her legs--her best feature--and emphasizes that she is short-waisted, is all wrong for her. Then again, I view sheer overlays as the non-committal boyfriends of the dress world. Are you a gown or a short dress? Pick a length! No one ever says "Why buy the cow if you can get the illusion of a longer cow for free?"
After going sleek and sexy at the <a href="/blogs/beauty-trends-and-news/billboard-music-awards-fashion-beauty-pictures.html?slideid=10&slideshowPaused=false" title="The Best & Worst Look At The Billboard Music Awards" Billboard Music Awards, Selena Gomez opts for a summery Giambattista Valli frock with pale green floral accents that highlights her glowing skin from a recent vacation to Hawaii with one Mr. Justin Bieber.
If you've seen Aly Michalka onscreen, you know that she is one of those freaks of nature who manages to be ridiculously thin while also having ridiculously large boobs (just like Blake Lively). Blake always dresses for her body type, opting for fitted silhouettes. As you can see from Aly's Grecian gown, loose tops and draping make women with large chests look much bigger than they are. Learn from Aly's mistakes, ample-chested DM readers.
No matter what your feelings towards the current romper revival , you have to admit that if you're thirteen years old with long, blonde hair and a laid-back California vibe like Elle Fanning, you can totally pull one off. It doesn't hurt if Dolce & Gabbana lent you the romper and matching floral platforms.
This is Holland Roden from Teen Wolf. I'm guessing it's her first time on a red carpet because I learned from IMdB that this is her first main role in a series (right after I learned who she is). This might explain her decision to go with a sparkly mini dress with a train that is both strapless and one-shouldered with a '60s beehive and a curly side ponytail, plus a bright red lip. Choose your moments, Holland Roden.
I personally would rather wear an 'NSYNC t-shirt with suspenders and Pajama Jeans than animal print, but I'll admit when someone else does it right. The jaguar print on Lily Collins' dress is perfectly proportioned for her petite frame, and the gray and black coloring makes her rich brunette hairstyle pop.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the Victoria's Secret model who replaced Megan Fox in the new Transformers movie, on the other hand, is doing animal print all wrong. The oversize tiger stripes make the actress/model look taller and wider than she is, and the dress' long sleeves are an odd choice with T-strap stilettos. Huntington-Whiteley does get credit for her half-up, wavy hairstyle, though.
Brooklyn Decker, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's fellow Victoria's Secret model turned actress, fares better with a high-collared glittery gold minidress. On Decker's dress, the long sleeves help balance out the extremely short skirt and add to the dress' retro vibe. Someone cue up "Disco Inferno," please.
Can MTV please use some of the marketing budget for Teen Wolf to get the cast members a stylist? Crystal Reed, who plays the titular "teen wolf's" love interest, wears totally normal clothes on the show (yes, I watched, MTV, are you happy now? Can the endless promos stop?). So why did she show up at the Movie Awards looking like Urban Outfitters' version of a French maid?
Emma Watson, who was at the awards to introduce a clip from the final Harry Potter, looks stunning in a jewel-encrusted Marchesa sheath with silver epaulets. The actress is growing out her crop to make it easier for hair dressers on movie sets, but she has managed to avoid the awkward in-between hairstyle stages with side-swept hairstyles.
Chelsea Handler was at the awards to present her friend Reese Witherspoon with the Generation Award. Despite her attempts to portray herself as a vodka-swilling, hard-partying nymphomaniac, we here at DM know that you don't attain her level of success and stay this fit with the aforementioned lifestyle. Handler admits to doing a lot of Pilates, so she should stay away from dresses like this, where the ruching gives her toned stomach the illusion of a beer belly.
Leighton Meester has never been afraid to take risks when it comes to fashion, so it's not surprising that she's wearing a dress from Balmain's Fall/Winter 2011 collection. The only problem is, it looks more like the dress is wearing her. It just looks so heavy with all the metallic and mirrored embellishment. In addition to the dress, Leighton's loose hairstyle is more suited to the beach, and her shoes are too delicate for the dress.
Well, at least someone showed up ready for summer. Aimee Teegarden's one-shouldered, tri-colored frock is both figure-flattering and the perfect length. It's great to see the actress experimenting with new hairstyles, too--she's never done a red carpet with natural waves before.
Listen, Hailee Steinfeld, you just landed a Miu Miu campaign, so we know you're fashion-forward. I appreciate your Annie Hall meets All That Jazz get-up and the red lipstick and nail polish. I do fear; however, that since you are 14, the rest of the world wants to see you in the hyper-feminine clothing other actresses your age are wearing. Specifically: What are you feelings on floral rompers? How about floral platforms? Both at the same time?
Ashley Benson, who stars in summer television guilty pleasure Pretty Little Liars, shines in a metallic Matthew Williamson dress from the designer's summer 2011 collection. Really, though, it's just the dress' basket-weave bodice that's in the "best" category. The skirt looks like candy will fall out if you hit it with a plastic bat. Although, who doesn't like piatas and candy?
