Just like your makeup bag needs to get you through a long day at work, your gym bag needs to get you through a workout and to your next shower—and keep you looking cute in the meantime. But who wants to overload their gym bag with a million unnecessary products?  Make sure you pack these ten beauty essentials, and you’ll never feel like a sweaty mess post-workout again.

1. Dry Shampoo

It may not be as refreshing as a real rinse, but dry shampoo zaps sweat along the scalp and adds subtle volume. We love Alterna Hair Care Bamboo Style Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo ($22), an organic formula that absorbs oil instantly and doesn’t leave any white residue.

2. Deodorant
Afraid of a little smell after a hard training session? Forget your worries with Degree Clinical Protection Anti-Perspirant Deodorant in Summer Strength ($7.29), which not only prevents against odor but keeps perspiration at bay with its new technology that provides more protection the more you move.

3. Hair Tie
Whether you keep an elastic in your bag or around your wrist, always have one handy for throwing your hair up in a ponytail or braid. Goody Ouchless Ribbon Elastics ($3.99) are amazing because they don’t pull at strands and cause split ends.

4. Towel
Although most gyms provide them, you should still carry your own. You never know how much or what kind of detergent they use to clean them, which is especially important for anyone with allergies.

5. Cleansing Cloths
To prevent breakouts, swipe your face with a cleansing cloth, such as Soap & Glory Off Your Face Wipes Cleansing Cloths ($10). The wipes can also be used before a workout to remove any makeup before it clogs pores.

6. Water Bottle
Always have a water bottle handy before, during and after a workout: not only will remaining hydrated make you feel good, getting enough water makes you look beautiful as well. Opt for a BPA-free bottle, such as a Camelbak BPA-Free Groove Bottle ($22).

7. On-The-Go Snack
Post-workout, you want protein fast because it helps your muscles recover. Pack a granola bar, such as the Atkins Advantage Peanut Butter Granola Bar ($8.29), that has a whopping 14 grams of protein.

8. Band-Aids
Have a few handy, because nothing messes up your beauty game quite like blisters. Band-Aid Advanced Healing Blister Cushions For Fingers And Toes ($5.49, walgreens.com) are specially designed for wrapping around digits.

9. Headband
Keep any bangs or flyaways back with a sport headband, like The Nike Chevron Sport Headband ($10 for set of 2), for a snug, yet comfortable, fit.

10. Hand sanitizer
When our health is at stake, we just don’t trust the cleaning staff. Always have a hand sanitizer handy after you work the machines.
