As sad as it is to admit, summer is long gone and fall is finally here. While you may be changing your wardrobe to adjust to the new season, you must not forget to change out your makeup, too. NYX Cosmetics Chief Creative Director Cristina Bartolucci and Sephora makeup artist Julie Tain told us the products we need to lose, as well as the ones we need to gain.
Tain says it's time to lose the shimmery bronzers and luminizers and opt for matte coverage instead. "I love the Marc Jacobs Beauty Perfection Powder ($46, sephora.com) because it has a matte, silky finish and is buildable, so you can use it as a foundation or finishing powder."
OUT: Waterproof makeup IN: Conditioning formulas
Bartolucci says, "Now that fall has arrived, there is no need for the super long-wearing makeup we use to beat the heat during the summer. Waterproof mascara can be replaced by a super conditioning formula that gives a slightly glossy finish." Her pick is the NYX Propel My Eyes Mascara ($9, nyxcosmetics.com).
OUT: Nude lip gloss IN: Berry lipstick
"Now that fall is here, it’s time to put away your glossy nude lip products and opt for a deep berry lip color, like Kat Von D Painted Love Lipstick in Homegirl ($19, sephora.com)," says Tain.
OUT: Coral polish IN: Dark green nails
The bright coral nail polishes that looked so pretty during the summer now seem out of place. "Deep, forest green nail polish is great for fall," says Bartolucci. Try Illamasqua Nail Varnish in Rampage ($17, sephora.com).
