Keeping up with the tradition of naming her nail polishes after song titles, Deborah Lippmann just launched a limited edition collection inspired by the award-winning musical Wicked as it celebrates its tenth anniversary on Broadway. A mega-fan of the show (Deborah’s seen it a whopping 12 times), she designed the three shades— a vibrant pink, olive green and glitter emerald — to match colors used in the costuming. Check out the story behind each shade.

Popular — a glistening pink — was inspired by the shimmery pink dress Glinda wore during her iconic number “Popular.”
Deborah was able to match the shade accurately with a piece of the dress’ fabric.
Defying Gravity — an olive cream — is almost an exact replica of Elphaba’s skin tone.
Lindsay Mendez, who currently plays Elphaba on Broadway, wears a body suit as well as MAC Chromacake in Landscape Green on uncovered skin. Deborah and her team used both to create a polish shade in between the two. “She’s the girl who is a little bit different, but at the end of the day, we’re all different so you can use this polish whenever you want show off your individuality," says Deborah. "To wear green, you really have to be willing to experiment and do something different with your nails.”
One Short Day — a glittery emerald — was inspired, no wonder, by Emerald City. And it was the color that brought it all together for Deborah.
“Not only is emerald the Pantone color of the year, but it’s also the 10th Anniversary of the show. Everything just came together, and we created this set that captures Wicked’s mesmerizing wit.”
