Nothing smells better in the summer than coconut oil on the beach. The old school scent of sunscreens and oils like Coppertone or Hawaiian Tropic conjure up childhood memories of fun, carefree summers gone by. I wish they would make a Coppertone candle—it would be the biggest seller ever!
The coconut is an amazing summer beauty item for many reasons. It is actually a fruit, nut and seed all in one called a “drupe.” The water from a coconut acts like a healthy diuretic, hydrating your body and replenishing it with moisture as well as helping with water retention. It’s perfect to get your body bikini-ready during that time of month or after a big BBQ.
The meat of the coconut contains anti-inflammatory ingredients and is a healthy way to flavor up summer salads, yogurt, fish and sorbets keeping you fit and healthy while you are exposing all that skin at the beach. The oil are a fantastic way to keep the skin and hair looking their best. When used on the skin, it acts like a super moisturizer by keeping the epidermis soft and supple. The oil contains Lauric Acid, Vitamin E, Vitamin K and other moisture-rich ingredients that help it combat any form of serious dryness.
Here are some of the fabulous ways coconut oil can save you: It treats Karetosis pliers and eczema, helps eliminate body odor, soothes a sunburn (when mixed with aloe vera gel), softens cracked heels (when mixed with Vaseline), lightens up dark patches on knees and elbows (when mixed with lemon juice), cures chapped lips, removes stubborn eye makeup, acts like a hair conditioner, helps dandruff, is a yummy message oil and did I mention you get to smell like summer when using it? Some of my favorite products on the market today are Zico Coconut Water, Garden Of Life Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, Nars Manoi Body Glow II, The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter and Skin Trip Coconut Moisturizer.
